The republican clown car is filling up rapidly. now Jindal and Trump.  It seems that all these guys that have fallen into disfavor locally are running for president.  Christie, Jindal, Walker.  Jindal adds nothing to the group.  Trump on the other hand is the gift that keeps on giving to the democrats.  Most of the candidates will drive the party to the right.  Trump will drive them to distraction and the electorate into hysterics.

This treatment of the 2nd amendment as sacred is monumental bullshit.  It was established after a revolution against the British in a rural, wild society in an age of one-shot muskets.

There is no longer a need to permit citizens to bear arms.  Against whom or what?  Against our own government? And of course, we have the right to construct a nuclear weapon, no?  If we are truly at war to defend ourselves as a country, we bear arms.  We don’t need the second amendment.  The national guard as a well-regulated militia can bear arms.  There is a purpose.  Otherwise it’s time to repeal the 2nd amendment.  No one has the right to bear arms.  It should be licensed and limited to necessity.

How long should we be beholden to the NRA an Gun Lobby?

Interesting that Jeb Bush is going to play down his surname.  How is he going to do that? “Hi, I’m Jeb – can’t remember my last name.”

I just read an article about the burden of student loans. It’s a system that is as bad as our lack of health care was before Obamacare.  The government has a moral and economic obligation to provide affordable  or free higher education to those who want and deserve it.  I paid nothing for college and went to graduate school on the GI bill.  Those days have been replaced by a bonanza for banks in the form of student loans.  In the article, the borrower extols the virtues of defaulting to eliminate the crushing debt which essentially destroys his freedom of choice.  He makes a lot of sense.  Our rugged individualism today means being born to wealth so you don’t need help.

Rachel Maddow predicted there would be 19 republicans running.  The republican clown car is already at 10.  She may be right.  Ask yourself if  there is even one of them so far that gives a shit about the country or its people?

James Madison HS in Brooklyn, my alma mater, has had many illustrious graduates. Politically, we’ve had (that I know of) 3 senators (Schumer, Sanders and Coleman) and a supreme court justice (Ruth Bader Ginsburg).This year we have a longshot chance of even a president. Go Bernie, Go

No one should go through what Joe Biden went through.  Beau served his country in every way and should be honored and remembered.  The travesty is that Dick (Darth Vader) Cheney, that war-mongering, draft-dodging, liar still survives and keeps pumping out bullshit.  If there was ever a case for repealing the first amendment he’s it.  I don’t understand why the media give him any coverage at all.  His lies are so blatant.  He must be terrified that history will remember and judge him based on truth and not his lies.  The farce is definitely with him.

I just finished reading Michio Kaku’s book “Beyond Einstein” which although a little outdated was fascinating.  After reading Steven Hawking’s books (written for the layman – ha) 3 times which despite my technical background and graduate study in mathematics,  left me frazzled, this one was almost a  pleasure.  I say ‘almost’ because this stuff on quantum mechanics, relativity and superstring theory is so non-intuitive. you have to wonder how these physicists ever came up with these concepts.  The latest candidate for unifying everything is superstring theory which claims that once (whatever ‘once’ means)  there were 10 dimensions and 4 split off to make up our universe of space-time.  I can understand that but I can’t even envision it.
