Hurricane Patricia – Result of Climate Change?

As a former professional meteorologist, I find it hard to understand the rationale of those denying climate change. A category five hurricane, the most severe, intensive, and massive hurricane in recorded history is now occurring on the west coast of Mexico. Keep in mind that typhoons in the south Pacific have often been larger and more severe than those in the Atlantic or eastern Pacific. Not only have we never seen a hurricane in this hemisphere as large as the typhoons in the south and west Pacific but this one is the most severe of anywhere in recorded history.
Fortunately, it didn’t sit out there over water. It has made landfall and continues to progress over land which weakens it substantially but it will certainly bring torrents of rainfall with it which will cause flooding.
For those of you who are not aware, a hurricane and typhoon are the same storm type. The difference is only the location.
